Made in the Americas concert season logo - American Sketches concert (landscape version)
New Texas Symphony Orchestra presents “American Sketches” on October 20, 2019, at 3 pm at Moody Performance Hall. Part of the “Made in the Americas” series of Free Concerts for All!

Travel to the American West with the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe. Experience the rugged beauty, sounds, and mystique of the Grand Canyon through the voices of the orchestral instruments and unique percussion sound effects.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance with William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 (Afro-American Symphony). Written in a traditional classical form, it incorporates jazz, spirituals, and the blues, and even has a part for a banjo!

The concert will also include:

  • Fanfare for the Common Man, Aaron Copland
  • Concerto for Marimba and Strings, First Movement, Séjourné
  • “Porgi amor”, from Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart

All NTSO concerts this season will be free of charge and open to the public. Simply come to the box office to pick up your free admission ticket to the concert.
