The New Texas Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra, which means that we are an all volunteer group who is dedicated to providing the best music in the central Dallas community. Our musicians come from various backgrounds and skill levels.
Some are music professionals in their own fields looking to play a new instrument for leisure, some have grown up in youth orchestras and are looking for an opportunity to recapture the magic of playing with a large ensemble, and others are conductors of middle and high school orchestras who want an opportunity to play their instruments again. We even have a number of musicians who are very accomplished professional folk musicians that play traditional American style bluegrass or Irish music who also want to play classical music. If you play an instrument and you like classical music, we hope you will contact us about joining!
Regardless of your background, provided you can play symphony level music, we are interested in having you join the NTSO. We currently have openings in all the string sections as well as percussion. If you are interested, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page! We would love to have you join our group.
We practice most Wednesdays from 7-9:30 pm at the Sammons Center for the Arts near Downtown Dallas. The Sammons Center for the Arts is a Dallas landmark, serving as the home for 14 arts organizations representing every performing arts discipline. Over 50 other arts organizations also regularly use the Center’s services and facilities for rehearsals, meetings, performances, auditions, and special events.
Open auditions for new musicians take place at the beginning of each season, but the NTSO accepts auditions for new players throughout the year. Our next official date is coming soon.
